An informed Iranian source has issued a stern warning regarding what Tehran views as intensifying political pressure on the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) by Western powers.
“Western countries must understand that political pressure on the International Atomic Energy Agency is non-constructive and will bring about a proportionate reaction from Iran,” the source, who spoke to Iran Nuances, stated.
According to the source, this pressure campaign, initiated by three European countries and the United States in November 2024 with the aim of generating a report that could be used as leverage against Iran, has significantly escalated in recent weeks.
Throughout this period, the source said, Iran has consistently cautioned against using the IAEA as a political tool. Tehran has also emphasized that the extensive cooperation it maintains with the agency should instead be the focus of attention for these countries.
The continuation of this cooperation, which the source described as being “at the highest level compared to any other country holding an agreement with the agency,” should “undoubtedly be appreciated by these countries and the IAEA,” the source added.
The informed source reiterated to Iran Nuances that “political pressure on the agency is non-constructive and will bring about a proportionate reaction from Iran.”
