The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, spoke by phone with Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, on Saturday evening, May 31, 2025.
According to Iranian Foreign Ministry, the two officials reviewed the latest developments regarding Iran-US negotiations. They also discussed the recent IAEA report concerning Iran’s nuclear activities.
Iran’s Foreign Minister, in the call, highlighted Iran’s continuous cooperation with the IAEA, stating that all of Iran’s nuclear activities are under the agency’s supervision and within the framework of the Safeguards Agreement. He also emphasized the absence of any diversion in activities and nuclear materials.
The Foreign Minister urged the IAEA Director General to reflect the realities in a way that would prevent certain parties from misusing this international body to advance their political agendas against the Iran.
Iran’s top diplomat further urged the Director General to explain Iran’s cooperation with the IAEA during the upcoming Board of Governors meeting. He stressed the consequences of any political action, warning that Iran would respond appropriately to any inappropriate move by European parties. The Foreign Minister stated that the responsibility for the consequences of such situation would lie with those parties who turn the Agency and its arrangements into a tool for their political programs against Iran.
