High-level officials in Qatar’s Amiri Diwan have “no doubt” about the active involvement of the United States in the recent Israeli attack on the capital, Doha, a source close to the Diwan told Iran Nuances.
The strike, which took place on September 9th, targeted Hamas leaders’ session in the city. In the aftermath, Washington denied prior knowledge of the operation, a claim that is being met with derision and anger within the Qatari government.
According to the source, a senior Qatari official had described the US administration’s position as a “pathetic” and “downright lie.” The same official had advised Qatar’s Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, “to not let the US president fool anyone by pretending he didn’t know Israel planned well in advance… to target Hamas leaders in Doha.”
The sentiment of betrayal extends to the highest level of the state. “The Amir himself was angry and never believed the US president was telling the truth,” the source stated.
A highly noteworthy point is a pre-warning from a source inside the American government.
“In fact, a White House insider who has business ties with the Qatari royal family had already informed Qatari officials that Netanyahu had personally secured Trump’s greenlight to go ahead with the attack,” the source said.
This approval was given during a phone conversation between the Israeli Prime Minister and the US President that was held few days prior to the attack, said the source.
