Deputy chief and spokesman of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Behrouz Kamalvandi, has announced that Iran has prepared a list of actions in response to an anticipated resolution at the upcoming International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors meeting, warning that cooperation with the agency could change.

Speaking in a live televised interview, Kamalvandi stated that European countries and the United States are moving towards adopting a resolution, similar to a previous instance. He suggested that these countries are seeking to utilize the snapback mechanism and potentially use this as leverage in negotiations with the United States.

Regarding Iran’s planned reaction, Kamalvandi referenced the response to a previous warning that he said was ignored. “Last time we warned them, but they didn’t pay attention. We increased 60% uranium enrichment production sevenfold. We launched 20 cascades of advanced machines, which is 3,300 new machines,” he stated.

He elaborated that Iran has now prepared a new list of actions. “One side is technical measures, and the other side is the type of cooperation with the Agency,” Kamalvandi said, adding, “Certainly, the Agency should not expect the extensive and sincere cooperation that Iran currently has to continue.”

Kamalvandi argued that a resolution alone cannot legally trigger the snapback mechanism, though he maintained that the United Nations Security Council’s actions are often politically driven rather than purely legal. He asserted that snapback is applicable when a party has not fulfilled its obligations, saying Iran has met its commitments, implying its actions have justifications.
